SMEs turning to cloud solutions

There’s a terrific article, published on September 1st, on the “London loves business” website. It discusses how small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are increasingly turning to cloud solutions to increase their business efficiency.

The article results from a recent survey (of a relatively small sample) of  SMEs by Smith and Williamson – an accounting and business advisory group.

The article suggests that over three quarters of these businesses are looking to adopt, or have adopted, cloud solutions. You can read the full article here.

This is encouraging news, as Cameo Innovations is offering precisely this kind of cloud solution for small businesses. CI’s offering not only includes usual IT tools such as Word and Excel, together with email and cloud file storage, but also includes those two increasingly standard requirements: an accounting package and a CRM (customer relationship management) system. Siting all of these tools in the cloud means they can be closely integrated, even to the extent of using a single sign-on (SSO) infrastructure so those employees who need access to all three systems can do so seamlessly.

And, as the article points out, cloud security has improved significantly since the early days, and continues to do so – which means cloud security is usually as good as, or better than, that achieved by businesses implementing their IT security locally.
